This journal is a compilation of the emails I sent home while I was in South Africa. While the experiences and text are mine, some of the photos have been shamelessly stolen from books, postcards, and the web, since most people take better photographs than I do.

My unplumbable thanks go to my hosts Scott Linneman and Becky Craven and their kids Charlie and Dory. They gave me a singular opportunity to see this crazy country in a way that most travelers just plain couldn't. And they put up with me for a month. And Scott sat in the back of the car between two kids...
